- O and his men want to celebrate winning the Trojan War
- O fights the Cicones
- 2 things: they kill the men and take the women
- O wants to leave but men are selfish / mutinous
- Cicones prisoners escaped and got the army
- The army forces O and his men to leave
- 6 Greek (Achaean) men died from every ship
- (O started out with 12 ships)
- Couldn’t leave until someone cried 3 times for each dead soldier
Land of the Lotus Eaters
- O chooses 2 men and a runner to find out about the lotus eaters (a total of 3 men
- lotus eaters were not violent
- L E gave the men lotus to eat
- Lotus makes them carefree, forgetful of their home
- O tells the men they need to leave; they’re mad/upset
- Kept O and his men from main goal: getting home
